For my 25th birthday, I was fortunate enough to receive a Go Pro, which I eagerly took advantage of during our recent trip to Coron. It never left my side and I came home with at least 200+ videos.
As a Valentine's day present for my loved ones, I painstakingly tried my hand at Video Editing to compress our 5-day journey to a 3-minute clip. I think I did a pretty good job, though. People who have seen the video have told me that they felt like they were in those captured moments. They felt the same joy and excitement. They felt the love.
While it was also my first trip with my new camera, I discovered a few pointers on owning a Go Pro that could made the newbie user's experience better:
Always have a portable power source. You'll be out the whole day and a drained battery is your worst nightmare. This is especially crucial to the latest model with the lcd screen.
Have plenty of room for your photos and footage. What good is a working camera without storage? In my case, 16gb lasted me only a third of the day. Thankfully, I had my laptop to upload the photos instantly.
Always make sure your lens is clear before you point and shoot! I had so many good shots that were photobombed by water drops.
Invest in your camera's accessories. Using a Go Pro is very tricky and like the item above, many good photos would've turned out better if my stubborn fingers stayed out of the way.
Use it for what it is. Take advantage of its versatility. Clip it anywhere and keep it rolling.
